I made my own variation of Dorset Apple Cake yesterday, and it’s beautifully moist!
It’s just a basic cake mix (4oz sugar creamed with 4oz sugar, 2 eggs and 6oz SR flour). Just add a large peeled and grated Bramley apple, some cinnamon and nutmeg, and top with crunchy sugar (I used this) and more cinnamon and nutmeg, and bake in a moderate oven until brown and springy to the touch.
A light dusting of icing sugar, and hey presto!

Delicious with double cream!

Wow, that’s a gorgeous cake! Admiring from afar as I’m dieting.

I am going to give this a go this afternoon as my friend Beth is around for tea and cake – I will report back on how it goes! I am learning to bake so tasty yet simple recipes are much appreciated
Thanks for the recipe

This tasted lovely! I’m making it again for my boyfriend’s birthday today, adding a bit more apple to it. But it is going into my recipe file as ‘Stolen Pogle Cake.’

I am honoured to have a cake named after me
Today I am making a lemon cake, with lemon curd and cream filling! Last night I made a batch of my husband’s favourites ~ cherry scones ~ there’s only 2 left now, as my daughter came round this morning, and she and the grandchildren enjoyed them too!
I will share the recipe later…it’s so simple you can make them in 10 minutes!
